My vintage tea set

Hello Dearies! Today I'd like to show you, a tea delph that belonged to my aunt and I inherited it :)
Playing a 'tea party' is one of the memories most cherished between childhood friends, what do you think?:)
Tea table chat
'Tea and crumpets'
Five steps for a tea party:
1. Invite your guests. All of them are very welcome, including your friends, your mum&dad, and/or your stuffed friends as your favorite teddy bear and doll.

2. Make the 'food'. 'Cakes', 'cookies' and 'cupcakes' are the best choices.

3. Throw a tablecloth over the table and set each place setting with a doily under the plate, the saucer with a tea cup in it on one side, a napkin and, depending on what 'food' you will be serving, a fork or spoon.

4. Make your 'tea' and serve both the 'tea' and 'dessert' to your guests.

5. Enjoy the party with ladylike chatter and giggling. Read your guests a story or two while they eat their 'cakes' and drink their 'tea' with ladylike motions.
Note: All the words in quotation marks, mean an imaginary condition.
What a lovely memory! *-)
Children's vintage tea set

Vintage Argentinian sweets

Las cosas claras y el chocolate...Aguila!
Aguila-Saint advertisement

Last slogan: 'Las cosas claras y el chocolate Aguila' makes an allusion to the popular saying in Spanish 'Las cosas claras y el chocolate espeso' which means 'Let's get things clear'. Spanish people use the word 'chocolate' and 'espeso', which mean 'thick chocolate', in that saying. It's a long story...he,he
That slogan was the most famous one of the brand called Aguila Saint. This company was founded in 1880 by Mr. Abel Saint in Buenos Aires (Argentina). Firstly, it was a roasted coffee business but it became a chocolate factory later.
It was such a big success that he had to buy a lot in 1894. He rose a big factory where were assembled some workshops for the production and packing of the chocolate and coffee.

The company achieved and there were lots of offices all around Argentina and Paraguay in 1905. In the 20's, Saint brothers started to make ice creams that's why they created the top company 'Laponia'.

In the mid 20th century, Aguila-Saint was a top company, with advanced techniques for that time.
They produced nearly 100 different products as chocolate cigarettes, colibrí chocolates, candied fruits, sweets...during the following 40 years. They had their own infrastructure where they packed and printed the boxes and a tailor's shop where they tailored the overalls and garments for the staff. It was a pioneer headhunting firm, because they hired over 1800 people on a permanent basis.
In 1993, Grupo Arcor kept the brand.

Unfortunately, I don't have any Aguila-Saint chocolate bar :( But I made a three layer chocolate cake. It was delicious!!, I was very surprised because as far as you know, I am terrible at making cakes...The curse could have broken... hopefully!
Check it out, this is the recipe (I didn't cover the entire cake with whipped cream because it's sickly sweet for me).
The last piece of cake! :)

Take a break!

I am back already! Today, I started to work again. The return to work after the holiday period has been facilitated enjoying a break with my mates.
For this special day, one of my friend cooked yummy cupcakes. She is terrific! I took some pictures for Be-Bop Lashes. It was a lovely gift. She found the recipe on internet, it is called 'Old-Fashioned Cupcakes'. She made different Old-Fashioned frosted: Chocolate, Vanilla , Strawberry and Lemon.
For the first time, Cupcakes were cooked in United States in the 19th century, and it was revolutionary for the amount of the time it saved in the kitchen. There was a shift from weighing out ingredients when baking to measuring out ingredients. According to the Food Timeline Web, food historians have yet to pinpoint exactly where the name of the cupcake originated. There are two theories: one, the cakes were originall cooked in cups and two, the ingredients used to make the cupcakes were measured out by the cup.
In the beginning, cupcakes were sometimes called "number" cakes, because they were easy to remember by the measurements of ingredients it took to create them: One cup of butter, two cups of sugar, three cups of flour, four eggs, one cup of milk, and one spoonful of soda. Clearly, cupcakes today have expaned to a wide variety of ingredients, measurements, shapes, and decorations - but this was one of the first recipes for making what we know today as cupcakes.
Cupcakes were convenient because they cooked much quicker than larger cakes. When baking was down in hearth ovens, it would take a long time to bake a cake, and the final product would often be burned. Muffin tins, also called gem pans, were popular around the turn of the 20th century, so people started created cupcakes in tins.
I want to finish my post with a sweet song (or creepy hehe) sung by Shirley Temple: 'Cuppycake Song'

Lady Marmalade

Here it is. My first Burlesque post. I'll show you my little collection of corsets. I hope to increase it as soon as I can :)
I bought them on the website: http://www.corsets-uk.com/
There are several promos on this website like '3x2 sale', 'Corset of the Day (COTD)', 'Clearance' and so on. Have a look!.
The website runs very well. I didn't have any problem with them. Anyway I will always choose Steel Bones Corsets category as the quality is higher than Fashion Corsets category. All of them have a centre piece to cover your back and the design is 15'' long so will cover your hips and back on ladies 5ft6" and under. Also, I fell in love with them because they produce a silhouette resembling the hourglass shape: wide bottom, wasp waist and wide top.
These corsets were my choices:
The only snag can be that you will need a person who help you to tighten it. So every time that I decide to be 'Scarlett O'Hara' being laced into my corset, my Mammy has to be my awesomer half haha;) So funny!!^^

The Gibson Girl

Today, 29th June is The Gibson Girl Day, because it's the 127th anniversary of the Camille Clifford's birth.

The Gibson Girl was the personification of the ideal woman of the Belle Époque in United States. Its creator was the illustrator Charles Dana Gibson.
There are different points of view, given that some people think that The Gibson Girl is the first national standard for American women and other people disagree. Anyway the Gibson's illustrations were very popular during the early 1900's.

Many models posed for this artist, even his wife, but the most famous one was the Belgian actress Camille Clifford. She was the perfect model for these beautiful illustrations.

Happy Birthday Mrs. Clifford!

I would like to recommend you the next article about The Gibson Girl and its creator. Essential reading for all those concerned about the vintage art and history.

And the next one is specially for my lovely readers from Spain and/or South America.
