A Beautiful Mine

Finally, I got it! My buttercup gave me as a present:) I was really looking forward to watching it. My mum said to me 'I am sure you will love it!'...So I have been watching three chapters and I am not dissapointed.
Mad Men is mine!!!
My first impressions:
This series is about the lives of various characters (men and women). We will watch nostalgic themes from America in the early 1960's. It sets at Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York.
1.Everybody smokes, even in their jobs. Smoking is a life style at global plot.
2. Sexism. Men treat women like sexual objects. They are constantly cheating on their wives. Having an affair was a norm, while women were staying in to take care of children, like the perfect housewife.
3. In the 1960's, contraception pills became famous. Women were on Jack and Jill at last, it was a spread.
4. A cabaret after a hard day's job. On these places sounded burlesque and jazz music. A striptease on the stage, sexy bunny waitresses and an uninhibited female public. Men looked for shameless girls, there.
5. The Great Migration. African Americans began to advance into more skilled jobs, but in the series, they offen appear working as waiters and in other kind of jobs that weren't supervisory positions.
6. The role of naive secretary. Peggy is a shy, dowdily-dressed girl straight out of Miss Deaver's secretarial school, Peggy is led to believe from the other girls that part of her role is as a sexual accessory for her boss – a misreading that ends awkwardly when she places her hand on his. As Peggy says importantly: 'I hope you don't think I'm that kind of girl'. Later, however, Pete Campbell, who was frat-boy abhorrent to Peggy when he first met her in Don's corner office, sneaks round to her apartment after his stag do. Peggy (now with contraception courtesy of a flirtatious/judgmental, smoking doctor), seems flattered by his attentions and invites him in as he tells the top of her head: 'You must think I'm a creep'. Both seem not to know how they should behave – and drunk booty-call sex seems a natural extension of this.
8. The role of sassy secretary. Joan Holloway is the red headed queen secretary of Sterling Cooper.
That's all. I am going to see a new chapter! I'll leave you a funny commercial from the FX channel that I've just found on Youtube: 'Women in the workplace'. Poor Peggy!
